Hot Potato
If you watch the clip above, you might dismiss these happy shiny (and not just a little camp & a lot annoying) folk as out of work actors who could only find this sad gig on children's TV to earn a meager crust.
Or "Shame," you might think, "imagine having to perform that drivel everyday". "Gosh, my 8 year old niece could write better lyrics". Or, "what a load of unadulterated tripe...I'll NEVER let my child watch that!!!"
BUT, you'd be wrong. Because in fact according to good old Wikipedia:
The Wiggles is a children's musical group formed in Sydney, Australia in 1991. They were founded by Anthony Field, Murray Cook, Greg Page, and Jeff Fatt. The group achieved worldwide success with their children's albums, videos, television series, and concert appearances.
"In 2005, The Wiggles earned more than AC/DC and Nicole Kidman combined becoming Australia's "richest entertainers." In 2006, they earned $A50 million. They have earned seventeen Gold, twelve Platinum, three Double-Platinum, and ten Multi-Platinum awards for sales of over 17 million DVDs and four million CDs."
Draw your own conclusions. How could so many children be so wrong? Catchy tunes and ever so good moves.
$A50 million. Nice work if you can get it.
But I don't think it'll be Cameron's dad's first choice of stocking filler for his boy. What do you think?
