Daily Pics

She calls me "Bog Frog"

She has a hat fetish

She and Me

Jessie and Benji. (AKA Benjamina...aka Mimi)

Then There were 2

I once wanted to get a kitten, but my husband said NO. He said it would most likely claw at his precious speakers.

Then we set off one morning to buy a puppy.

And along came our beloved Jessie.

Then we decided she needed a playmate, being so rumbuncious and playful. Enter Benji.

Except Benji showed NO interest (zip, zilch, naddah) in playing with Jessie. In fact she pissed him off so on occasion that we actually allowed him on the leather couch to get some respite from her.

He is in fact a bit of a girl. Hence his other name, "Benjamina" and/or "Mimi Boy".

Anyway, I don't like to mention the "Q" word* but after 6 months at Keringa (see here) they finally arrived in Perth TODAY and are settling in at Byford quarantine station (where they'll be for 1 month) as we speak.

Will will see them on Friday...I will already have been "snotting en traning" due to my mother's departure on Friday morning so that will continue into the early afternoon when I see the babies!!!

Cameron has a loooooooooong way to go in catching up with the doggies in terms of number of pics taken...Here are just a few from their former life.

Daddy's Girl...

* quarantine

When you gotta eat, you gotta eat

There's nothing like the shrill, piercing wail that Cameron lets out when his tummy clock goes off!! MY WORD.....You wanna see 2 women run around like chickens with their heads cut off when that happens when Mommy and Granny B are out somewhere...

You have no idea what it does to the maternal instinct that wail ,and the urgent need that kicks in to make the noise STOP. IMMEDIATELY. Besides the fact that people might become concerned because he makes it sound like we are cutting off his toes with razor blades!!

SOME of the PLACES I HAVE BREASTFED LATELY:

- Ikea restaurant;

- Ikea parking lot. While seated in the car of course!

- Parking lot of Pinnaroo Memorial Park (where there are lots of roo's amongst the memorials)

-Cafeteria at Murdoch hospital (where Granny B and I like to have a low budge lunch and coffee after appointments with the Dr. Luverrly mini quiches...) ...good for a cheap lunch, people!

The "parent's room" at David Jones dept store (like Stutts in the old days). This parents room is for mum's and dads to change and feed their lil darlings. Has cosy chairs, soft muzak, basin and microwave...!

Dome restaurant in Freo....

But I'm VERY discreet. Still a bit clumsy. But not much flashing...

Today's Outing...

The Lake

Koala having a snooze

Endangered Carnaby's black cockatoo

Western Grey kangaroos

Went to Yanchep national park and saw Koala's, Kangaroo's, Cockatoo's and Kookaburra's. Well, just ONE Kookaburra, but it flew away as I went for my camera.

Read about Yanchep here. And their Koala Boardwalk here.
It's $10 (per car) to enter. Top Tip for Perth folk: Get an Annual Pass for $20!! (Pass info here.)

They have braai thingies there or take a picnic or there is the Yanchep Inn or the Chocolate Drop Tea Room place (which is like being in a time warp from the speed of the service to the music in the background. Nice enough for *coffee and cake tho.)

Oh, check the times of the cave tours when you get there.(We did the Crystal Cave last time...ain't no Cango, but is well presented and a fun tour if you plan on being there all day.)

They also have walking trails you can do - ask at the Gift Shop. And, you can't row on the lake coz the water is too low at present...

The Boy and his Granny B.

(*remind me to tell you about choices when ordering coffee here. Just don't ask for cold/hot milk. They won't know WHAT you're talking about.)
Night, night.

My Mother Doesn't Get Out Much...

She bought me this hat and she thinks it's REALLLLLLLY funny.

Seriously, she's taken like a hundred photo's of me in it.

Here's me and Granny B. I can see right up her nose.

Here I nearly cracked a smile just to get her to stop pointing that camera at me.

Oh, Gawd I'm bored now.

But I know she's gonna take more. Eeesh.

Mutual Adoration Society

Hobbies

Please email hobby suggestions to my husband so that he stops messing with, sorry "fixing", the computer so that things don't work the same as they have for centuries/since the dawn of time.

Mail him at: ab_martin79@hotmail.com.

Or visit me at the local jail for committing a very messy homicidal deed.

Feeding time at the Zoo

Big Boy weighed in at 3.68 kg's...so we added an extra 200 gm's. But doubt we'll get to 4 kg's by next weeks' 6 week check up...

And then we were all off to the zoo! I love, love, love the Perth Zoo. So if you ever come to Perth I'll take you there. It's a half day excursion. Pack sarmies and drinks. Sunscreen & lotsa water in Summer. But today was a fab Winter's day. Altho the sugar levels of all concerned did plummet so take some glucose sweets as well!
Oh, and buy a Map for $1. Binky got quite irate when we dropped ours and some pom picked it up and pretended it was his! Did a Ruth Rice-like, "I WONDER WHERE WE COULD HAVE DROPPED IT??!!" in his direction...

Oh, and for the Perth folk, on Wednesday's (until June sometime I think), Grown Ups pay Kiddies admission price. See below.

Saw these amongst MANY:

'Roo

Dingo

Wombat (looks like Jessie!!)

Koala
Sigh...I LOVE the zoo.

Jiggity Jog

Are we there yet?????

And we're back.

Had fun on our jaunt, altho' the weather didn't play ball. Whirlwind tour of the South West. Granny B just got a taste of this part of the world. She'll have to explore at length next time!

Cameron was a champ. Altho' we're still having our 4am and beyond parties...yawn...Altho' it's amazing what you can learn from TV at that time of the morning. Today I was up at 5.30 am and learned where the phrase the "*Halycon Days" comes from ... and was exhausted enough to find it damn interesting. So Looking on The Bright Side...

Augusta

Beach in front of our complex at D'borough

Meelup Beach, Dunsborough

Our accommodation in Dunsborough at Geographe Cove

Awesome pot-belly stove fireplace in D'borough house

The Busselton Jetty _ edited to say Granny Binky walked the lenght of the jetty (almost 2 km's) and back in the shortest time ever (20 mins each way) to the Underwater Observatory. Go Granny!!

Tree Top Walk, Walpole

SUCH a glamorous pair, us two!!

Night, Night!

*The phrase Halcyon days is a literary commonplace in English language and culture, signifying ideals of prosperity, bonhomie, joy, liberation, or tranquillity. The usage derives ultimately from the Ancient Greek legend of Alcyone. In the context of the legend, the halcyon is a type of kingfisher that builds its nest on the surface of the ocean; the bird charms the winds and waves so that seas remain unusually calm during its nesting season, the fourteen days preceding the winter solstice.
