Perth has many things I am learning to appreciate.
One is the abundance of parks and reserves I've mentioned before. We're still exploring and discovering them. Popped down to this one (Manning Lake) on Sunday with the babe & the mutts. Awesome birdlife and wonderful place for families to unwind and play.

Read more here. (PS: Our Municipal area is Cockburn)
Number 2 thing, is the abundance of support for moms and tots.

PlayroupWA is a resource for mom's in Perth to find a playgroup where they can take their little ones to play and meet other mom's.
Just punch in your postal code (6164 is ours) and you can find a Playgroup in your area.
They have different types of playgroups too. Supported playgroups, Home playgroups, Baby playgroups, Three and four-year old playgroups. One that really just sums it all up for me is the Intergenerational playgroups ("These playgroups provide seniors, children and their parents and caregivers with opportunities to interact through play. Like "Rent-a-Granny". Brill.

The other fab thing is the "Op Shops". Charity shops where you can go and find many a bargain.
Good Sammy's (here), Salvo's (here) to name a few.

Then, there's ALWAYS 10 trillion sales on. 2 for the price on 1 and 5 for the price of 3 and....lots of stuff to sucker you in. Well, to sucker me in. Or my husband.... But now we can go to http://www.lasso.com/ and check out what's on sale near us. Because no matter what you buy, you'll see it cheaper somewhere else in no time at all.

Also...there's a new site that compares a basket of the SAME groceries at supermarkets near you and lists the price. See http://www.grocerychoice.gov.au/Default.aspx
"Each month, GROCERYchoice publishes the price of grocery baskets at supermarket chains across Australia. The baskets include 500 products typically purchased by Australian households."
Marvellous!! I mean there still are really only TWO major grocery retailers...so not huge competition but at least they appear to be under big brother's watchful eye so that we can save a bob or two...
